Contrary to what others might tell you, an mlm network marketing lead is not every single visitor to your blog. It’s not every person you run across in a forum. It’s definitely not your mother-in-law or your neighbor.
A real mlm network marketing lead is your subscriber, either to your email list or to your blog.
It’s someone who likes you enough to continue the conversation.
You need to be someone who is interested in THEM, and in what THEY are doing.
You need to be fun, imaginative, and have a special connection.
This is not the McDonald’s approach to generating a lead.
Much of what I receive every day in my inbox is about the marketer and what he or she is doing. Often, it’s a blatant pitch. Sometimes, it’s even a pitch I’ve seen word-for-word in another email.
This is what I call the McDonald’s approach to generating a lead. Here’s what I mean: Think about the best sandwich you’ve ever had. Hold that picture in your mind for a second and let your mouth start watering.
You there?
Now, I’m guessing that the best sandwich you ever had was not from McDonald’s.
Am I right?
Mine is from a little place down the street called Buffalo Joe’s, and their manager’s special cheeseburger is about the closest thing to a perfect sandwich I’ve come across. It’s a little bit quirky, definitely messy, and it tastes different depending on which day you go and who is cooking. No two are quite the same. Sometimes they run out of stuff and won’t make it. Other times, like if the cashier is too busy, they’ll tell you to call back to place your order.
It’s a little work of art. Getting it is even a challenge. In my book, it’s the best burger on the planet.
On the other hand, a McDonald’s meal is designed to always be the same. There is an exact system to every single part of it. It requires no real thinking or imagination, and no one on the planet would probably ever say it was the best.
It’s easy and okay, but not great.
I’m guessing you want to be great.
Contrary to what you’ll hear elsewhere, you can’t let someone else’s list generate leads for you. If you’re working hard to send leads to someone else’s capture page, and they’re nice enough to share the contact info with you, does that mean the lead is your lead?
No.
Most likely, they couldn’t care less about you. They want to work with the person whose list they’ve joined.
They want to work with the person who’s sending out tons of helpful stuff, and who is involved in the sometimes messy job of trying to help.
Are you on my list?
I do have a system for generating mlm network marketing leads, but it’s definitely not a formula. It’s not McDonald’s. It’s creative and fun.
For those of you who have joined my list, there’s something extra-special coming up tomorrow for you. I can hardly wait.
Hop on over and sign up if you haven’t already, and you’ll get the announcement tomorrow.
All my best,
-liz
